Abstract

Clinical trials in pediatric pharmacology present unique challenges due to the physiological differences between children and adults, and ethical concerns related to informed consent, safety, and the vulnerability of pediatric populations. Despite the advances in understanding pediatric drug metabolism, dosing, and safety, children remain underrepresented in clinical research. This article explores the challenges in conducting clinical trials in pediatric pharmacology, including issues related to safety, dosing, and ethical considerations. It also highlights the importance of developing specific pediatric pharmacological protocols and regulatory frameworks to ensure the safety and efficacy of drugs used in children. The article concludes by discussing potential future directions for improving pediatric clinical trials, including advancements in personalized medicine and better inclusion of pediatric populations in research.
